What a beautiful season to reflect on how Jesus entered the world as a helpless child in the most humble of circumstances. I can’t help but wonder what it must have been like for those present on the night of His birth: Mary, filled with love and joy as she held her newborn son for the first time; Joseph beholding the child with wonder, contemplating with awe the majesty of God, and perhaps asking God for the graces he would need to be a father to this child he was to love, teach and protect; the shepherds bowing before the promised King and Messiah, marvelling that lowly men such as themselves should be given such an honour. Finally, the child Jesus, sleeping peacefully in the manger. May we all take a moment this Christmas to remove ourselves from all the distractions of decorations, presents and delectable foods to reflect on the simplicity and love of the very first Christmas.
Wishing you a blessed Christmas filled with the peace and grace of our Lord!
